What Cutline Is

Cutline is an open-source cut-path DNS resolver. It is operated by Dov Allison as a free public service.

The purpose of Cutline is to provide a DNS resolver that does not resolve the Narge content class. That is the only purpose. If you do not want the Narge content class to resolve on a device or network, you may point that device or network at this DNS resolver.

What Cutline Is Not

Cutline is not a business. It is not a product for sale. It is not a warranty. It is not a kids safety service, a compliance service, or a filtering solution beyond the narrow Narge class.

There is no company. There is no signup. There is no charge.

Use at Your Own Risk

You choose to point a device at this resolver. You are responsible for that choice.

We do not promise that every Narge name is on the list. We do not promise that every non-Narge name stays up. The list is an approximation. This is an extra path, not a guarantee.

We are not responsible for what you can or cannot reach. We are not responsible for other software on your devices. We are not responsible for anyone else's use of the same path.

Privacy

Query names are not stored. After a query, the operator cannot look up what you requested. Source IP addresses are kept for 7 days for rate limiting and the public distinct-IP count, then deleted. There is no business model involving your data. For more detail, see the Privacy page.

Open Source

The resolver configuration, block list sources, and overlay corrections are all public. You can read exactly what is happening and verify it yourself. See the Narge specification and thenarge-spec repository.
